“Well done, Kaveh.”

Devin could barely open his eyes. Where was he? It was silent save a faint crackling sound nearby. It was warm, yet lacked something. He hesitated to call what was missing life, but that’s what it felt like. The room was devoid of anything alive.

Kaveh was inside his body, but it was no longer painful. It felt good. Kaveh shifted and blood surged to Devin’s dick, making it hard instantly. He groaned and ached for someone to touch it.

“Welcome, Devin.”

Devin opened his eyes to see a tall, thin blond man standing over him, his face pale in the blue firelight. In front of the fireplace, a wing chair sat. The mantel, made of dark wood, held an hourglass in an ornate brass stand, a stone bowl, and a small black glass goat.

“Who are you?” Devin asked, his voice hoarse.

“I am Vamar, and I will help you achieve all you have ever desired.”

“Why?”

Vamar smiled, his face appearing both ancient and young at the same time. “Because when you achieve your desires, I can achieve mine.”

“And what are they?”

“To return to the world of the living.”

Devin’s brow arched and studied the man. He almost looked Immortal. Almost, but not quite. His long, blond hair hung down past his shoulders, framing his angular face. “Why do you want to do that?”

“It is a long story—one you do not need to know right now. Let us just say that it has been a long, long time since I have stepped upon the glorious earth, and I have a deep desire to feel fresh air on my face again.”

The answer didn’t satisfy Devin’s curiosity, but something about the way the man spoke reached deep inside him and he understood. Somehow.

Vamar stepped closer. “You will do great things.” He grabbed hold of Devin’s hair, yanking his head upward. “I will help you become the man to do those great things.”
